Harrington Family Health Center’s mission is to create a healthier community by engaging each patient in making health care decisions that reflect the highest standards of care in conjuction with the needs and desires of the patient and his/her family, and by making this care affordable based on the patient’s ability to pay.

Our vision is to provide a professional, dedicated and on-going commitment to continually improve the standard of health care through measurement, analysis and evaluation of services to enhance the quality of life for each patient.

The original Harrington Family Health Center was established in 1976 and founded by Dr. Donald and Mary Robertson. The location was a large white house across from Bigelow Field in the heart of Harrington. Dr. Robertson recognized a need for a health center to attract other doctors, as there was a shortage in the Downeast Area.

Dr. Robertson practiced medicine with Philip Michie, PA, his wife, Mary Robertson, RN, Gladys Dorr, RN. Starr Yeaton was the Office Manager. More providers came in and out of the health center as it grew over the years.

Dr. Robertson eventually developed a practice in Machias, Maine however he continued to see patients at the health center as well for quite some time.

In 1987, a decision was made for the Harrington Family Health Center to transition to a much larger facility due to the booming practice. Its current location on Rt. 1 has continued to expand since that time. The expansions have included adding dental and mental health services to the burgeoning practice.
